Douglas Evans

Treasurer

Douglas’s affection for Provincetown began the first time he arrived in 1981 on one of the old DC 3s from Boston flown by PBA. His love of nature and the outdoors led him to a career at the National Park Service Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program, helping communities to improve their access to local parks, recreation, and conserved natural resources. Seeing the need was even greater in inner city communities, and realizing a new approach would be needed to create and sustain green space in those communities, he led the development of the Groundwork USA network over 25 years. Partnering with the Environmental Protection Agency and many local public, private and nonprofit partners, Groundwork not for profits have taken root in 21 communities across the United States. His involvement with the Provincetown Conservation Trust began with annual donations and grew into volunteering on projects, becoming a property steward, participating in educational programs and enjoying the trails and properties of the PCT.
