The PCT has decided to end our Cork for Trees program. It was a very good program run by Trustee Sherry Dranch for years and we were able to plant a lot of trees in Provincetown with money raised from selling corks to crafters. A few issues made it difficult to continue the program:

1. eBay’s (our main commerce site) fees and continued errors in processing us as a non-profit (we are a 501c3). Therefore the taxes on our profits were excessive.

2. Profit margins in selling corks have become thinner and thinner. We were starting to barely break-even after the shipping costs to crafters, PayPal fees, and eBay fees.

3. Many more cork sellers on eBay cut into our business. Before deciding to wrap up the program, we were only selling 2 boxes a month (at our peak, we were selling 25).

If you have corks, below are some alternatives.

The two biggest companies, ReCork and Cork Forest Conservation Alliance, have drop-off locations, searchable online by zip code. If you don’t live anywhere near a drop-off site, you can mail your corks (free of charge!) to CorkClub.

Thank you for years of supporting our program by sending us your corks!
